Grants for Artistic Women

Expert Author Simon Friling
Despite all the efforts being made, Natural Sciences are way ahead of other fields of study in terms economy, i. e. more scholarships and grants are offered to students studying or willing to study in fields such as Mathematics, Physics, Medicine or Engineering. However, this does not mean that if you are studying Social Sciences or Arts, you cannot get any financial aid. There are organizations that are aware of this imbalance, so new programs are being brought into existence to help those in need, and who are not parts of the Natural Sciences network.
Of these fields that receive relatively less support from grant giving organizations, Arts is especially on the rise for women who are seeking financial support. In the field of Arts, however, it is important to have a project you are willing to realize to get a meaningful amount of support. The grants for artistic women range from support for education to starting new businesses related to arts. Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Inc. for instance, offers grants to women with projects in different genres. Another organization which you could impress with your project would be WomenArts, which has as its mission to bring together funders with women in need. Therefore, this organization could be the door opening to new opportunities.
The Federal Government also supports artists in their search for financial help. National Endowment for the Arts creates opportunities for potential or current artists through various grants and networking opportunities. There are also internship prospects for those who would like to practice their art n the professional environment. Women's Studio Workshop is also a good opening for female artists. There are many types of grants available within the organization: Artist's Book Residency Grants and a two-part Art-in-Education Artist's Book Grant are those related to the Artists' Book Grants. Other financial aid opportunities include Joan Snyder Artists Residency, Ora Schneider Residency Grant, Studio Residency and Geraldine R. Dodge Residency. The organization also provides the ground for being part of fellowships and internships.
There are also many local bodies from which female artists can seek financial help. The Leeway Foundation, for example, provides grants to women in the Delaware Valley region of Bucks, Camden, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, with Art and Change Grant and the Transformation Award.
Although many Social Science grants are not geared towards specifically women, one should not overlook funding in this field as well. Furthermore, women have great chances in winning grants that are not restricted to women only. Some organizations give grants in the field of Social Sciences even if they seem as if their program is directed towards Natural Sciences only, if you display your use of scientific methods in your field of study.
The Financial Aid Super Site has a wide range of articles aimed to help people getting ready to go to college, especially first time students looking for grants for women.
